Wall St ends near session highs

U.S. stocks closed near session highs, with S&P 500 at new high and the Dow within 50 points of an all-time record, as investors looked ahead to the Federal Reserve's announcement.

S&P 500 rallied 9.84 points to 1,771.95.Most key S&P sectors ended higher on telecom shares and consumer staples.

 Nasdaq composite added 12.21 points at 3,952.34.
