Play
A plainclothes policeman was assaulted by protesters led by the Student and People Network for Thailand's Reform (STR) while he was talking to crowd-control police at the Makkhawan Bridge rally site.
He was attacked by some 10 protesters and fell down and rescued by other police officers.
He was later identified as Pol Sgt Jamnian Hongthai, an officer from Metropolitan Police Division 6.
He was seen walking around at the rally site before he went to talk with police manning barriers. The protesters misunderstood him as trying to provoke police so the protesters tried to pull him away but the Jamnian thought the protesters would attack him so he ran prompting the demonstrators to attack him.
