Uthai resigns from govt-appointed reform committee

Former parliament president Uthai Pimchaichon Friday resigned as a member of the government-appointed reform committee.

Uthai stated in his resignation letter that his proposal for all the amnesty and reconciliation bills to be withdrawn from the House was earlier ignored by the government. The bills were withdrawn Thursday following strong protests against the blanket amnesty bill that has been passed in the third reading by the House.
Uthai said in the letter that some members of the panel and the prime minister were not sincere in pushing for reconciliation.
