Donations for Haiyan victims

The worst disaster in Philippine history, "supertyphoon" Haiyan ("Yolanda" in the Philippines) affected some 4.5 million people in at least six central islands, forced the evacuation of at least 800,000 Filipinos, and may have claimed the lives of at leas

The total number is not yet confirmed, because many areas, especially remote villages, have not been heard from three days after the passage of the Category 5 storm. Communications, power and transportation links were severely damaged and in some areas completely destroyed. The worst-hit areas seem to be the provincial capital of Tacloban City and parts of Eastern Samar.
The Philippine Daily Inquirer, a member of the Asia News Network, is coordinating cash and good donations through its Inquirer Help Fund, specifically as aid for Tacloban and Eastern Samar. The funds will be used to purchase relief packages, including food, water, medicine and basic clothing.
