Suthep submits signatures in support of impeachment move

Former Democrat MP Suthep Thaugsuban yesterday submitted a list of 115,500 signatures of voters to the Senate speaker to back his impeachment drive against 310 MPs.
The targeted MPs all voted to pass the controversial blanket amnesty bill.
Senate Speaker Nikom Wairatpanich said he would assign officials to check the documents. Name verification could |take longer than a month because only about 1,500 names could be processed a day.
The names have to be verified by the registration office and officials have to check whether the voters had performed their civic duty by casting a ballot in the last election.
Protest at Democrat HQ
A group of pro-government red shirts, all armed with air horns, started rallying outside the Democrat Party headquarters at noon yesterday. The protesters belong to the “Red Ubon Ratchathani” group and had stopped off at the Democrat Party office before heading to join the ongoing rally at Rajamangala Stadium. The group returned to their bus when Democrat MPs, led by Chinnaworn Boonyakiat, yelled “Slaves get out”.
