Some Oxford students agree to have lunch with deputy PM

The open letter spurning the invitation to have lunch with Deputy Prime Minister Phongthep Thepkanjana that was sent by Thai Oxford students did not represent all the Thai students in the university, a Thai Oxford student source said Tuesday.

Last Sunday, a group of Thai Oxford students sent an open letter to Phongthep, turning down the invitation to have lunch with him on Saturday, reasoning that he and the government of which he is a member supported and passed the Amnesty Bill that violated and contravened the constitution.

The source said that some students will be having lunch with the deputy PM and will also be showing him around Oxford city for a tour. The source added that the group who drafted the open letter did not represent all Thai students in Oxford.
