Constitutional Court drops case against Abhisit's MP status related to alleged draft evasion

The Constitutional Court Wednesday dropped the case against Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva's MP status related to alleged conscription avoidance.
The complaint against Abhisit was submitted to the court by former Pheu Thai MPs via former House speaker Somsak Kiartsuranon.
The former MPs asked the court to rule whether Abhisit had lost his MP status after the Defence Ministry issued an order on November 8 2012 to retroactively fire him from military service on allegations that he had dodged a military draft.
The court reasoned that after the House was dissolved on December 9, Abhisit’s MP status had terminated so it would be useless to go on with the trial.
