EC to ask govt to issue new royal decree to set new election date for 28 no-contested constituencies

The Election Commission Friday resolved to ask the caretaker government to issue a new royal decree to set a new election date for 28 constituencies in 8 southern provinces, EC commissioner Somchai Srisuthiyakorn said.

The EC held a meeting Friday to decide what to do with problems related to the February 2 election.
Somchai said the EC would propose its opinion to the government that a new royal decree should be enacted to handle the elections of the 28 constituencies.
The constituencies had no candidates at all because protesters blocked the registrations of candidates.
