Play
A driving ban on monks and novices has already been implemented in some areas.
Supreme Patriarch Somdet Phra Maharatchamongkha-lachan, in his capacity as the top monastic chief of the Hon Nuea zones, imposed the ban because he believes driving does not befit Buddhist monks. However, he did say that implementing the ban in other zones depended on the respective monastic chiefs.
