Philippines helps search for missing Malaysia Airlines plane

Manila - The Philippine military on Saturday dispatched three ships and a surveillance plane to help search for a missing Malaysia Airlines plane with 239 people aboard.
The Philippine navy ships and surveillance plane were checking the seas off the western Philippine province of Palawan, said military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Ramon Zagala.
Defense Department spokesman Peter Paul Galvez said the search was conducted on the "possibility/assumption that the flight may have veered off its path."
