Ping locator to reach search area on April 5

Kuala Lumpur - An instrument that could help locate the flight recorder of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane is expected to reach the search site on April 5, Malaysia says.

The US naval instrument locator will arrive in Perth on Wednesday and be fitted on an Australian ship that is due in port on Friday, Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein says.
"The Ocean Shield, fitted with the Towed Pinger Locater, is due to arrive in the search area on April 5," he says.
That would be just two days before the underwater locator beacons of the flight data and cockpit voice recorders are expected to run out of battery power.
