Joining security officials in briefing 500 schoolteachers about security measures, Kamol said teachers had to notify officials if they planned to travel outside their usual routes or time.
He also warned them to be extra cautious.
Since the unrest erupted in 2004, some 174 teachers have been killed in the deep South. The latest victim was a female teacher in Pattani’s Ma-Yor district on May 7.
After the twin bombings of railway tracks in Narathiwat on Wednesday, the final stop for 14 trains heading to the South has been temporarily set at Tanyongmas Station in Rangae district, pending repairs which will take at least a week. Security at train stations has also been beefed up, while paramilitary rangers have summoned four local men for questioning over the attacks.
