Supinya Klangnarong, a commissioner of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), voiced her concerns on media control under the martial law.
She is opposed to the order to shut down satellite TVs, saying TV or radio stations supervised by the NBTC are under the Constitution’s protection.
“This could be viewed as violation of the freedom of expression, as guaranteed by Article 45 of the charter. Exercising power needs check and balance no matter who used it,” she wrote on her Facebook on Tuesday.
