FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2014

Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Friday condemned the Thai Army's decision to seize control.

In his statement released Friday, the German minister urged restraints in the Thai Army and the resumption of political process as soon as possible. He also stressed that the Army leaders should restart a political dialogue, particularly to pave way for voting.  He urged the Army to assure constitutional rights of the Thai people as well as press freedom.
He also urged German citizens in Thailand to avoid protest sites and keep updated on the situation.
