Prayuth says NCPO summons certain figures to try to iron differences, calm them down

National Council for Peace and Order chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha said Monday that many prominent figures of the two rival political camps have been summoned because the NCPO would like them to reach understanding among themselves.

Speaking at the first press conference after he was officially appointed as NCPO chief, Prayuth said the NCPO would like the summoned people to calm down.
“This is because conflicts cannot be allowed to continue as the rifts are dangerous to the nation and the people as whole,” Prayuth said.”
“The conflicts caused concerns among Thais and foreigners who have invested in Thailand. The conflicts will also cause economic problems as all of you know.”
He said the country’s political problems had to be ended so the military had to seize power.
