Seven arrested for protesting coup Sunday

Five women and two men were arrested for protesting against the coup on Sunday, a police source and a senior police officer said Monday.

Lumpini police station chief Pol Col Chaiya Kongsup said police officers from his station took a woman from the protest site in front of the Terminal 21 shopping mall to the station. She was seen taken away by men in plainclothes in a taxi, fuelling speculation that she might be arrested by troops in plain clothes.
Chaiya said his subordinates brought the woman to the station to calm her down. He said she was later taken away by Army officers.
The police source said two men and four women, excluding the one taken away by troops from the Lumpini station, were arrested and handed over to the Crime Suppression Division.
They were identified as Warin Thinnakorn, 71, Nusara Suksawaengboon, 48, Sunantha Puangsiri, 50, Mongkol Saengsuda, 43, Jiraporn Warapisit, 53 and Sumet Wirotchaiyun, 40.
