Thani Thongphakdi, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Thailand to the UN office in Geneva said.
Prayuth will also give an update on the plans formulated by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to move Thailand’s political and economic activities forward.
Asian ministers will attend a five-day meeting, starting this Sunday, the 6th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in the Thai capital. Prayuth, also army chief, is invited to preside over the opening.
“This is a good opportunity to use this platform to explain to foreign countries,” said Thani. Gen Prayuth would explain the current political situation in the kingdom.
The Thai foreign ministry has been explaining to a number of foreign countries on why the NCPO staged its bloodless coup on May 22. However, many of them are monitoring the situation to see if the NCPO will implement its roadmap and if an election will be held within 15 months.
