Pornphet elected NLA president

Ombudsman Pornpetch Wichitcholchai was unanimously elected president of the National Legislative Assembly on Friday.

He was also the only candidate nominated for the post.
The election was held during the first meeting of the interim legislature.
Somporn Thepsittha, the most senior member, temporarily chaired the meeting during the election.
ACM Itthiporn Supawong nominated Pornphet for the post.
After Pornphet’s election, the NLA proceeded to elect the first and second vice presidents.
Surachai Liangboonlertchai, former deputy Senate speaker, was the sole nominee for the post of first vice president and elected unanimously.
Pirasak Porjit, another former deputy Senate speaker, was voted in as second vice president.
