Police pursue more heroin suspects

Following an earlier police arrest of two suspects along with 155 kilograms of heroin in Loei's Phu Luang district, a deputy national police chief yesterday instructed officers to probe the drug's origin and destination and arrest more accomplices.

Pol General Pongsapat Pongcharoen said he believed the heroin, manufactured in a neighbouring country, was smuggled through the Loei border, instead of Chiang Rai that had faced a heavy crackdown. He said most heroin was trafficked through Southern Thailand to Malaysia or Australia.
