Vietnam vessels detained for illegal fishing

The Thai Navy on Friday detained three Vietnamese vessels with 17 crew for illegally fishing in Thai territorial waters.

HMTS Tak Bai escorted the vessels to a harbour under Second Naval Area Command in Songkhla province. The Vietnamese vessels were caught fishing around Bong Kod Tai drilling rig in the Gulf of Thailand.
Rear Admiral Sittiporn Maskasem, Chief of Staff of the Second Naval Command, supervised the investigation and provided food for the detained crewmembers.

The vessels set sail from Ca Mau province. The crewmembers were charged with illegal entry and for violating Thai fishery rights. The Vietnamese Embassy has already been alerted about their detention.
