Time for NCPO to take a back seat

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) will need to reduce its role and power after the Prayuth government has taken oath to start office, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Kreangam said Tuesday.

He said the NCPO would not have authority to issue any orders or summon anyone for questioning, unless it takes recourse in martial law.
Several committees appointed by the NCPO must be restructured to come under the government. The committees that are headed by the NCPO chief will be headed by PM Prayuth Chanocha and the ones which headed by the NCPO deputy would be headed by a deputy PM, Wissanu said.
