Reform council selection process 80 per cent complete

About 80 per cent of the member selection process for the National Reform Council has been completed, Election Commission secretary-general Puchong Nutrawong said Friday.

Puchong said the selection committees, which met Friday in Bangkok, had not come up with a shortlist of names yet as there were still many things to scrutinise.
He said some 30 applicants might have had their electoral rights suspended by a court, and if that were the case they would be ineligible to be a candidate.
Puchong urged all provincial selection committees to maintain secrecy regarding the names of shortlisted candidates in order to spare their province negative attention.
