Air Force chief pushes for Asean search and rescue centre

Air Force commander ACM Prajin Juntong proposed the setting up of an Asean search and rescue centre at the 11th Asean Air Chiefs Conference in the Myanmar capital Thursday. Myanmar Air Force chief ACM Khin Aung Myint chaired the meeting.
Referring to search and rescue missions, Prajin said that Asean had to be aware that aircraft that went missing or crashed had an impact on regional security, air transport and eventually prosperity.
Hence, he said, Thailand was pushing for the establishment of an Asean Search and Rescue Centre.
Prajin added that the project could begin by setting up a committee and working group to decide on the structure of the centre.
