Hotel room rates down in first half

A hotel room in Thailand cost an average of Bt2,667 per night in the first six months of this year, according to the latest Hotels.com Hotel Price Index (HPI).

The rate shows a decrease from the end of last year, possibly due to political situation, hotels.com said.
During this period, Phuket hotel prices saw a 10 per cent fall to Bt3,250.  On the eastern seaboard, hotel prices in Pattaya recorded a 9 per cent drop to Bt2,503, while Bangkok prices decreased 8 per cent to Bt2,235.
