Pathumwan district prosecutor Charoendech Salayapong said several points needed clarification, hence his team yesterday could not draw conclusions. Besides asking the Medical Council of Thailand for information, the team expected police to present additional investigation results by October 30 and asked Pisit to be present on the day, he added.
Pisit was facing two charges under the Medical Facility Act 1998 – of operating a medical facility without permission (punishable with three years in prison and Bt60,000 fine), and failing to supervise the practices of medical personnel at the clinic to abide by professional conduct (punishable with one year in prison and Bt20,000 fine).
The statute of limitations is 10 years for the first charge and five years for the second.
