Rubber farmers happy with deal on price boost, fertiliser subsidy

Rubber farmers in Surat Thani said yesterday the government's goal to push for a price of Bt60 per kilogram while also providing farmers Bt1,000 per rai, for up to 15 rai as in a fertiliser subsidy, was acceptable.
Surat Thani agricultural council president Sitthiporn Jariyapong also said he believed the guideline would get approval from the Cabinet soon.
An informed source said farmers in Krabi felt the same and believed that the rubber price would improve and reach the goal of Bt60 per kilo within two months. The rubber price is currently under Bt50.
