Homes flooded in Trang; troops help the trapped

Floodwater from the Banthat Mountain Range inundated some 100 homes in 20 villages in Trang's Huay Yot district early yesterday morning.

Soldiers from the Phraya Ratsada Nu Pradit camp were dispatched with flat-bottom boats to assist people trapped in their homes by the 1-metre-deep flood.
Heavy rain also resulted in water blocking access to the famous Le Khaokob Cave, with tourists barred from entering it since Sunday – resulting in lost revenue of about Bt100,000 a day.
In Krabi’s Khao Phanom district, floodwater inundated three tambons, affecting some 100 families and damaging four rural roads.
In Surat Thani’s Phrasaeng district, residents along the Tapi River were urged to move their belongings to higher ground as run-off from nearby provinces continued to pour in.
Meanwhile, staff from Chumphon’s Lang Suan Hospital and other workers piled sandbags and installed pumps to protect the facility from floodwaters.
