ATM system change to affect cross-bank and cross-border transactions

Cross-bank and cross-border transactions through Thai banks' ATM network will be suspended for two hours on Friday night, November 14, said the Bank of Thailand.

The payment system operator, National ITMX Co Ltd, and bank members would jointly test the communication network of the new ATM network, which will be moved to the new computer centre, from midnight of November 14 until 2am.
"During the period, cross-bank and cross-border transactions would be suspended, but clients still can use services at the machine operated by their respective banks," said BOT spokesman Chirathep Senivongs Na Ayudhya.
He added that banks recently conducted a test rehearsal. And should any serious problem occurs during the migration, they have agreed to switch to the old system to ensure normal service.
