The monk, a co-leader of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee, also proposed that corruption cases should have no statute of limitations and everybody be allowed to file graft-related complaints.
Also, he said, any state official facing corruption complaints should immediately be suspended.
He also called for laws preventing wealthy people from putting poor people out of jobs.
The monk also presented a 90-point conclusion on energy reform that was derived from meetings between the civic sector and the Energy Ministry.
Pornpetch said he would hand the monk’s energy-reform proposals over to the National Reform Council and the Charter Drafting Committee (CDC).
He added that the NLA would take into consideration proposals from the monk when it is drafting relevant bills, saying the monk’s proposals would be held in high regard in terms of contributions to the country’s political and economic sectors.
Phra Buddha Issara also criticised certain political parties for refusing to cooperate with the CDC and offer suggestions for the new charter, saying those who have rejected the panel’s invitation were clearly putting their self-interest before national interest.
“They are disgusting because they intend to create problems and disturb national peace,” he said.
The monk also supported plans to hold a public referendum for the new charter.
