Prayut admits he is not happy Thailand is still under martial law

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Thursday admitted that he is unhappy that Thailand is still under the martial law. The longer it is enforced, the less happy he is, he said, adding that it however remained necessary for the time being.

"We should have sympathy for Myanmar," he said while presiding over the start of National Defence College of Thailand's Class 57.

"Myanmar has 125 ethnic groups, spreading throughout the country. That's its challenge. Just like Thailand, where the martial law is imposed. Am I happy? I'm not. The longer it is in place, the more unhappy I am. Yet, it's necessary."
During his speech which covered a variety of subjects, he said that foreign communities are happy with the restored stability in Thailand.
"They said Thailand is now safe for a visit as it's free from conflicts and protests," he said, adding that those dissatisfied will have to endure.
