Mechanical failure may cause Payao chopper crash : Army chief
Mechanical failure may be the cause of the chopper crash in Payao province that killed nine army officers including a deputy regional commander last month, Army Commander in Chief Gen Udomdej Sitabutr said.
He however insisted the Bell 212 chopper and others in the Bell Huey family will not be grounded. He has just ordered a full-scale inspection on their capacity.
He said next week he will call a meeting to find solutions for aircraft that are in poor condition. The discussion will include a procurement plan in the next phase and additional training for pilots.
The helicopter crash happened in the evening of 17 November 2014, killing nine army officers including the deputy commander of the Third Army Region.
