'Men in black' deny weapons charges

The so-called men in black group allegedly involved in the shooting of civilians and soldiers during the bloody riot near Democracy Monument in April 2010 Monday denied they possessed war-grade weapons in public while testifying at the Criminal Court.

Kittisak Sumsri, 45, Preecha Yooyen, 24, Ronnarit Suricha 33, Chamnan Pakichai, 45, and Punika Choosri, 39, were indicted by public prosecutors on Thursday.
The weapons allegedly included M79 grenade launchers and M16 and HK33 assault rifles. They were accused of carrying these weapons at the Kok Wua intersection in Bangok’s Phra Nakhon district.
The state prosecutor said they were arrested on September 10 and detained pending their trial after their bail requests were rejected.
