Narathiwat bombing injures 3 soldiers

THREE soldiers were injured in a bomb attack yesterday in Narathiwat province, police said.

The insurgent attack took place in tambon Rieng in Rueso Rusoh district while the soldiers were patrolling on motorcycles, said Pol Lieutenant Marut Ninkosin of Rusoh police station.
The injured soldiers are Second Lieutenant Udon Chanasaeng, Corporal NiArreb Nilong, and Private Ardalee Bilangload. They were taken to Rusoh Hospital.
Police believe that the attacks were made to fan unrest in the deep South.
Meanwhile, a shooting took place in front of a convenience store in Yala province’s Muang district but nobody was hurt.
Pol Lt-Colonel Pongsak Promketh of Muang Yala Police Station said officers rushed to the scene after the shooting took place at around 4am.
Wuttipong Bahor, who works at the convenience store, said he saw a man strolling near his outlet before he heard two gunshots.
Police said it remained unclear whether the shots were fired to threaten Wuttipong or to spread fear among the public.
