Chopper lifts tourist off cliff face

A Navy helicopter rescued a Greek tourist on Tuesday evening after he was stranded on a cliff about 150 metres above sea level on Koh Lan off Pattaya coast.

Bouras Thedoras, 37, was rescued after Pattaya police were alerted. The helicopter took the man first to the Utapao base where an ambulance ferried him to the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.
The man said he saw the cliff, which is about 300 metres high at Samer Beach, and decided to climb it, but got stuck half way. He said the soil was too soft on the upper half of the cliff for climbing and the slope too steep to climb down.
