Thai woman gets death over drugs in Malaysia

A Thai woman was sentenced to death on Monday after a Malaysian high court found her guilty of trafficking drugs.

Thai maid Duangchit Khonthokhonbari, 33, was caught with 2.81 kilograms of methamphetamine at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in March last year, AFP reported.
Anybody carrying as little 50gm of methamphetamine is considered a trafficker in Malaysia and subject to the death penalty.
Duangchit is expected to appeal against the death sentence, which is carried out by hanging in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Thai national Pitak Kamalasbucha, 28, was arrested on Sunday after he and two accomplices managed to escape police last Thursday but left 304,000 “yaba” pills and 3kg of “ice” in Phrae’s Song district, Provincial Police Region 5 commissioner Pol Maj-General Thanitsak Theerasawas said yesterday.
This year, Police Region 5 have so far seized a total of 7 million yaba pills and 110kg of “ice”, he added.
