No plan to abolish local administrative bodies, Prayut says

Prayut Chan-o-cha, chief of the National Centre for Peace and Order, said yesterday that he would invoke Section 44 of the interim constitution only when "necessary", and that he had no plans to abolish local governments anytime soon.

“I’m not thinking about dissolving local administrative bodies because the country is at peace now.
“We are focusing on improving people’s well-being. We are trying to find the time to consider allocating land to low-income earners.
The Army chief-turned-premier said if he had to resort to exercising Section 44, it would be used constructively.
The section states that the NCPO chief has the power to make any order he likes and that it will be deemed legal, constitutional and final.
