DSI probes collusion claims over equipment deal

The Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) has asked the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to probe alleged bidding collusion over the procurement of "overpriced" fitness equipment and recreation tools by the Department of Physi

PACC secretary-general Prayong Preeyajit said yesterday his agency’s checks on DPE’s 17 purchase contracts and DT’s 12 purchase contracts had found equipment to be irregularly expensive. He cited as an example the DPE’s purchase of a toy fort slider set for Ban Bang Len School in Nakhon Pathom – for Bt980,000.
A local school had bought a similar slider set for only Bt85,000. He said the PACC’s checking of purchase contracts would be done in two months. DSI Security Crime Bureau chief Pong-in Intarakhao said the DSI would probe alleged violations of the Submission of Bids to State Agencies Act as well as links between bidders and goods importers.
