Police close online language school

Chiang Mai Immigration police yesterday arrested 17 foreigners for allegedly setting up an online language school without work permits.

Immigration police on Thursday went to the BOI 360 Max in Chiang Mai’s Muang district and intercepted the foreigners.
After verifying their passports and other documents, police found that none of the teachers possessed a work permit. Some had overstayed their visa.
The school offered a one-on-one English language course for clients in China. A Thai national was among those arrested.
Twelve of the foreigners are from France, Ireland, the Netherlands, and the UK. The others are from the US, Australia and the Philippines.
