Orawan cited a complaint by Ranong’s good governance committee member Sippanont Kornsajja over Myanmar nationals being brought from Myeik, Dawei and Koh Song by people involved in the trafficking of Myanmar workers to be registered.
Besides paying Bt2,900 for a health-insurance card, each person also paid the traffickers Bt5,000 as an “operation fee”, Orawan said, adding that she would ask the inspectors-general of the Labour, Interior and Public Health ministries to probe the matter.
Nit Ouitekkheng, president of Ranong Civil Society, confirmed that the problem existed, particularly in Kraburi district.
