NACC member and spokesman Vicha Mahakun said yesterday the court would decide whether to accept the suit on February 24. He said as the Office of the Attorney-General had decided not to file a suit over the crackdown, the NACC had decided to file a suit on its own.
The suit accuses former premier Somchai Wongsawat, former deputy PM Chavalit Yongchaiyudh and other former Cabinet members of dispersing protesters in a manner that went beyond the scope of the law, and led to the death of two yellow-shirt protesters.
He said the NACC was confident it had a solid case because it was armed with reports from the National Human Rights Commission and other House committees, as well as legal specialists from the Administrative Court to back its allegations.
