Army closely monitoring red leaders

Army Chief Gen Udomdej Sitabutr has assigned the First Army Region to closely monitor the activities of red shirts movement after its leaders came out frequently and expressed political comments.

Gen Udomdej told reporters that most of the reds’ leaders understood the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) and the government better after being “invited for discussions” with military officers.

However many of them still had not gained sufficient understanding, he said, adding that it is the responsibility of the NCPO to try to make them to adjust their attitudes.
Gen Udomdej said he had assigned First Army Region Commander Lt Gen Kampanart Ruddit in his capacity as commander of NCPO’s Peacekeeping Force to take charge of the key Red Shirt leaders.
