In his weekly TV address aired Friday night, Prayut said he has inaugurated the floating market project for the development of tourism along the Phadung Krung Kasem Canal.
“The project is aimed at promoting Thai heritage tourism and at developing tourism sites along the canal and adjacent areas. Such sites existed in the past. Bangkok's canals have since been neglected and become polluted. Many of the canals have become cleaner now, thanks to the BMA,” Prayut said.
“The project will help preserve and restore the Thai way of life and afford the public and tourists the experience of the riverside way of life in Thailand's past. This charming way of life will be demonstrated by the project at the historically significant Phadung Krung Kasem Canal.”
He said the Phadung Krung Kasem Canal water market will span from Orathai Bridge on Luk Luang Rd. to Makhawan Rangsan Bridge and it is being hosted from February 12 to March 1, for a total of 18 days.
“I invite the public to visit the new attraction, which may be implemented in other areas in the future. Traffic may become congested, but shuttles will be provided,” Prayut said.
