After he surrendered to police to fight the charges related to the high-profile siphoning off Bt1.5 billion from KMITL bank accounts, the 51-year-old Sappasit applied for the first 12-day detention period until March 12 pending a police investigation and interviews of 15 witnesses.
Sappasit was charged with five serious offences – theft, forgery of official documents, embezzlement, negligence and money laundering – just as former KMITL rector Thawil Phuengma was charged on Tuesday.
