Police presented Kolawat Sukraksa, 42, and Kraiwich Sakuna, 23, along with an M16 rifle, a 11mm pistol and two bullet magazines, a 9mm semi-auto pistol plus its bullet magazine, nine 11mm bullets and 30 9mm bullets to the press yesterday.
National police chief Pol General Somyos Pumpanmuang said Kolawat – nabbed at a Bangkok mall on Wednesday – and Kraiwich – who surrendered – reportedly confessed to killing Kriengkrai Chumthong, Somchai Homkao, Preecha Iadkaew and Thawat Buathongkham. They were apparently fighting over a canal-dredging project in Pak Phanang district, Somyos said.
Kolawat, who is on Thailand’s most-wanted list, said they were about to discuss and clear up the conflict when one of the four killed men pointed an M16 rifle at his group, so his people shot in defence. In addition to Kolawat and Kraiwich, police took Yongyuth Khonchim, 32, into custody and are still on the hunt for Wutthichai Khongchim, 29.
