Pranee Satayaprakorb, head of the city administration’s culture, sports and tourism division, said BMA had spent Bt7 million on the February 12 to March 1 event at the Padung Krung Kasem Canal, which saw more than 200,000 visitors, who spent approximately Bt300 per head.
Meanwhile, BMA’s income from five other markets on land – Prom Prab’s Talad Nanglernga, Bangkok Noi’s Talad Wat Thong, Phasi Charoen’s Talad Wat Nimman Noradee, as well as Talad Huatakeh and Talad Luang Pang in Lat Krabang district – stood at around Bt12 million, she added.
“The government is currently organising an event to promote Thai rice and Thainess in this area near Government House every weekend until the end of April,” Pranee said, adding that the authorities have instructed BMA to hold art and cultural activities along the canal.
A boat service will also be available from Hua Lamphong to the floating market, she added.
