Ministry to air proposals for lottery bill

The Finance Ministry will propose to the Cabinet meeting today to approve the draft bill on the government lottery, which would prohibit the sale of lottery tickets in schools and nearby areas and to persons under 20, an informed source reported yesterday

The draft bill will also allow the Government Lottery Office to produce new products to solve the issue of lottery ticket overpricing and would establish a fund to buy back the tickets with less popular numbers. The draft bill will also set the profit ratio at 60 per cent for the prizes, 28 per cent for the government and 12 per cent for operating costs.
