“I would like to mention a person, many of you know him as the ‘Penguin Man’, who refuses to be let down by hardship in life and always thinks positive. He has also been trying to make Thailand a better place to live despite his physical limitations,” Prayut said during his weekly TV programme.
Prayut identified the man as Ekachai Wannakaew.
“Although he is missing both of his arms, he has the ability to create beautiful works of art. Three years ago, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin. Since then, he has been drawing and selling his artworks, helping his mother get out of debt, buying a new house, and giving his mother a monthly allowance,” Prayut said.
