BMA urges owners of building built before 2007 to check structure

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has urged owners of building built before 2007 to seek formal check of their building structure to see whether they could withstand major earthquakes.

Pattarut Thatthanon, director of the BMA’s Public Works Department, said the buildings that were built before 2007 were not required by the BMA building rules to be quake-proof so the building owners should voluntarily check their structures for the safety of tenants.
