Recreational parks and bicycle lanes by the river

The Cabinet yesterday approved in principle the allocation of Bt14 billion to develop recreational parks and bicycle lanes along Bangkok's Chao Phraya riverbank, government spokesman Yongyuth Mayalarp said yesterday.

The Cabinet also agreed to the project’s construction time frame of 18 months and assigned the Marine Department to proceed with requests to close the area for construction.
The Cabinet appointed the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning to carry out an environmental impact assessment report and it instructed the Land Department to proceed with related demarcating, he said. It also urged the related agencies to proceed with requests to use bridges on Rama VII, Krung Thon and Somdet Phra Pinklao roads. The Interior Ministry was instructed to seek Royal permission for the project, which would affect Sukhothai Palace, Thewet Palace and Wasukri Pier.
