The arrest of Nuttapol Khemngern, 22, was based on evidence from surveillance camera footage. Police claimed the suspect also confessed to spraying two anarchy symbols on the Court’s sign. Nuttapol said he’d done it alone and for personal reasons.
He said the anarchy sign symbolised equality and he wanted to protest against the injustice to his friend who’d been shot dead by a soldier during a roadrage incident in February. The case, however, had made no progress, he said.
The police charged him with damaging public property. The Criminal Court was reviewing whether the spraying would also be regarded as contempt of court, court spokesperson Bovonsak Tavipatana said.
